The historic town of Fishguard was the scene of the Last Invasion of Britain. (We obviously have something very special in Pembrokeshire!) In 1797, a force of French soldiers attempted to take the town after landing from the sea. With only a small number of British soldiers available to mount a defence, the women of Fishguard, led by Jemima Nicholas, took it upon themselves to repel the invaders. This they did with great bravery, resulting in the surrender of the French force to the Petticoat Army!
Fishguard¹s attractive lower harbour became the film set for the filming of Dylan Thomas¹ most famous work, Under Milk Wood, starring Richard Burton.
Nearby Attractions : Pentre Ifan Burial Chamber, Safe Sandy Beaches, The Blue Lagoon, The Gwaun Valley, Pembrokeshire Coastal Path, Sea Fishing, Boat Trips, St David¹s Cathedral, Galleries and many more! Annual events in Fishguard include the Folk Festival, Jazz Festival and Triathlon, all of which are held only a short distance from Tregroes Touring Park.
