California Chalet & Touring Park, Finchampstead, Berkshire

California Chalet & Touring Park in Berkshire, where every effort is made to ensure an enjoyable stay in our beautiful woodland setting.

The site of the Park was originally part of Windsor Forest and was a favourite hunting ground of the Tudors.

In time it became a popular leisure centre known throughout the South of the UK as 'California in England', eventually being designated by the Countryside Commission as a Country Park

In 1985 the 5-acre Chalet & Touring Park was privately purchased and is now a picturesque, quiet retreat for family holiday relaxation.

Open from 1 January - 31 December, we are ideally situated for visiting such places as London, Oxford, the New Forest and the South Coast.

Our Chalets nestle amid the trees and on the lakeside, the latter having their own private fishing area. They each have two bedrooms, bathroom, lounge with colour TV, and kitchen area with electric cooker & refrigerator. Each Chalet will sleep 4 comfortably and a guest bed can be provided for a 5th person. They are fully equipped including all bedlinen and duvets and each Chalet has a convector heater for chilly evenings. Well-behaved pets are welcome.

There are also 38 individual pitches for Touring Caravans, Motor/Vans and Tents, each with a hardstanding and room for an awning, together with a water supply and disposal point. Most pitches have electrical hook-ups. A well-appointed Toilet Block, personally supervised by the owners, has hand basins (H. & C.), razor points and hot showers, together with outside dishwashing facilities and a laundry & clothes-drying area. There are also facilities for the disabled.

Our visitors can enjoy the facilities of the adjacent Country Park which covers some 100 or more acres and includes nature trails, woodland walks, picnic areas, a children's play area and a paddling pool, together with the tranquility of the six-acre lake with fishing for carp, pike, tench, rudd, roach and perch. Visitors wishing to fish the lake must have a current National River Authority Rod Licence. These can be purchased from a tackle shop in Wokingham. The local authority who own the lake make a charge for fishing. Tickets are available from reception or car park ticket machines on the other side of the lake.
