Melvich is perfect for the quiet "get away holiday". The sandy beach is just a ten minute walk away, and is a favourite venue for surfing. Situated in the village is the local shop and post office. If you are a keen fisherman then try the local lochs (permits can be arranged). The area is an ideal base for touring the North Coast of Scotland. Orkney is just a short ferry ride away.
For the golfer there is Reay Golf Course which is five miles away. Apparently this course is "interesting"! Birdwatchers can visit the Forsinard RSPB Bird Sanctuary.
