Fen Farm, East Mersea, Essex

Fen Farm Caravan and Camping Site is ideal for people looking for a quiet family retreat. It is situated by the sea and close to a country park in a small village on Mersea Island.

There are 60 electricity hook up points available on the site. Hot water is available at all times and there are no extra charges for the use of toilets and showers. There are special toilet and shower facilities for people with disabilities, and within this facility there is a baby-changing unit. 5 Star Loo of the year award.

It is an ideal place to stay for people with an interest in wildlife as Cudmore Grove Country Park is very close by and the renowned Fingeringhoe Wick nature reserve is just 6 miles away. Abberton Reservoir with its abundance of water birds is also well worth the 10 minute drive.

With no club and no pool, people who come to Fen Farm do so for the tranquil atmosphere and children often surprise themselves by finding an occupation that does not involve anything being switched on or booted up! There are 2 play areas with swings, seesaws, slide and Wendy house. In addition to this children enjoy "crabbing" in the creeks, playing on the beach or in the sea. There are also 2 open fields for children to play football or fly kites etc.

The site opens in March and closes at the end of October. Calor gas and camping Gaz are available on site.

The "Dog & Pheasant" is open all day and serves excellent food. The village shop and post office is about 1.5 miles away, where there is also a thriving "pick your own" fruit, vegetable and flower farm. The small town of West Mersea is about 5 miles away, with its famous sailing regatta in August, and Colchester the oldest recorded town in Britain is within 10 miles.

Dogs are welcome as long as they are under control.Undercover, secure storage and outdoor storage is available for tourers.

In 2003 Fen Farm was awarded the David Bellamy Gold award for conservation, we have achieved this award every year since.
