Gwern-y-Bwlch Caravan Club Site, Llanbrynmair, Powys

A gem of a site in a lovely setting, lost in Mid Wales between Snowdonia and old Montgomeryshire. The pitches are terraced, and some have a splendid view across the valley. The world slows to a stroll in this part of Wales. It's a place for country pursuits like birdwatching or fishing. Don't forget your binoculars - the RSPB has reserves at Lake Vyrnwy and Ynys-hir. A conservationist's paradise, with a bird hide and feeding station on site - watch out for the red kite in the area. For anglers, try your luck at the Llyn Clywedog reservoir, or in the Dyfi River. If you fancy sea fishing you can book trips from the harbours of Aberystwyth or Aberdyfi. Walkers will find the Ffordd Glyndwr long distance footpath passes the site, with further excellent walking and views through local woodland developed by the Forestry Commission.
