A Scottish Tourist Board 5 Star park situated in scenic Glen Glass and named after the nearby Black Rock Gorge, an 120 foot deep chasm carved out by the River Glass. The park is located in the village of Evanton, approximately one mile off the main A9 route north towards Tain, Wick, Thurso and John O' Groats. The City of Inverness is 15 miles to the south, with Dingwall (offering rail services north and west) 4 miles west. The village itself enjoys a regular bus service to all of these popular destinations. The park caters for static and touring caravans as well as offering facilities to campers and backpackers etc. Level pitches with 16 amp electrical hook-ups, water points, free hot showers, toilets, disabled facilities, laundrette with commercial machine and tumble drier, baby changing facilities, ice-pack freezer and chemical toilet waste disposal facilities are all part of what we offer to our visitors. There is a public telephone on site. The local shop is open seven days a week and the village pub is only 200 yards from the site and serves excellent food at realistic prices. In addition the pub holds regular music nights featuring local talent. Black Rock is conveniently placed at the eastern end of the Trans-Scotland walk and is on the the edge of some of the most spectacular and unspoiled country in the Highlands. Step out of your caravan or tent at any time and enjoy the beautiful views surrounding the campsite. Spend an afternoon following the river up through Glen Glass to Loch Glass. We are only a short distance from the Cromarty Firth, home to a large colony of seals and they can be regularly seen sunning themselves on rocks close to the shoreline. Spectacular views of the Black Isle, Ben Wyvis and the Western Highlands are only short walks away. For those of you who wish to travel further afield similar areas of great natural beauty and historical interest can be easily reached making Black Rock a natural place to base yourself during your holiday. Rates: Please see website for details. 5 Star VS. Caravans thistle award.

Mick, Ali, Titus and Cosmo Stott, Percy the Clumber puppy, our fold of pedigree highland cattle, visiting family and friends all welcome you to our home at any time. Our brand new Eriba Touring Triton 430GT (4.16x 1.90m int) designed by an aeronautical engineer has been built almost unaltered since 1960 to the same design "It is again and again admired for the size of its interior layouts unexpectedly larger than the deceptively compact exterior would suggest, having all the necessities for comfortable living, contained in a compact and functional unit" Use all the same facilities as our campers but stay here warm, dry and midge free! A small friendly and very quiet lochshore site for a maximum of 12 tents only but usually fewer (and 3 caravans with prior booking essential). All facilities are spotless and of very high quality using local materials and are shared with the bothy which is used as a social / eating area and games room when not booked on a sole use basis, allowing a welcome retreat from the sun or rain. Parking is next to your pitch which is surrounded by meadow, orchids and often visited by deer. Please note although we now have electricity in the buildings and plenty of hot water we have no hard standings or a septic tank emptying point - as we believe this would spoil the atmosphere on the site, but we now have hook-ups if required. We may be able to help if required however in quiet times if you ask. Advance booking recommended in July and August. Though rarely a bad problem here due to coastal breeze in 2004 we placed a Midgebuster on the site with effect, for the benefit of our guests. Water No mains water exists here but a tasty and pure, sometimes peaty coloured, filtered and treated hill supply is piped into the buildings for your enjoyment and tested regularly. It may freeze occasionally in hard winters or be in short supply in hot summers but that's life here. Electricity Electricity too only arrived here in 2002 and is optional for those preferring gas lights and peat fires which are still used predominantly in all our accommodation. Many crofts on the peninsular still use wind and water to generate power. TV signals are poor although satellite TV is provided in our Croft House and radio signals can be received. Telephone A public telephone is located by the Bothy (01854 633210) and a private phone installed in the cottage (01854 633302) for guests use programmed for incoming and 999 calls only but an outgoing service can be supplied on request. Mobile phones have reached us however and we have 3 transmitters in the valley providing an essential safety service for hill walkers and motorists in winter. Essential Serivces Advance delivery of groceries can be arranged at cost and free range eggs, bread and long life milk can be obtained on site subject to availability. Dundonnell Stores and PO is 14 miles away and Petrol station and hotel 7 miles away, Otherwise its Ullapool, 25 miles away where there is a chemist, supermarket and doctor. A foot ferry 3 miles away runs there in summer. Maggies Tea Room is just across the loch for those lazy days. The road is gritted daily in winter (except Sundays) and has good passing bays for vans. Rates : 2 people - £10.00 all year round. 4 Star STB.
