The campsite has ladies' and gentlemen's toilet and shower blocks, which are located within the traditional farm buildings, set in a cobbled yard. Each block has hot and cold water and dish washing facilities. Information leaflets about the local events and attractions can also be found here. The site is less than 100 metres from a variety of traditional shops as well as pubs, restaurants and cafes. Within the village there are a post office, general store, tea room, chemist and two banks with cash point facilities. Sport facilities in the village include an 18 hole golf course and a swimming pool and sauna at a local hotel in the village. During your stay with us you may get the opportunity to watch us with our work on the farm. This includes feeding calves and hens, sheep shearing, dipping and preparing lambs for sales. Bellingham, pronounced "Bellinjum", stands on the north tyne river and on the edge of the Northumberland National park. There is a good range of shops and services as well three pubs, a hotel, two schools and three churches. In the village, sports facilities include an 18 hole golf course. There is also a swimming pool and sauna at a local hotel. The village also has a Heritage centre which will tell you all about the history of Bellingham and surrounding areas. The tourist information centre is located in the same building. Hareshaw Linn is a beautiful nature trail, which is a 2 hour walk, which culminates in a spectacular 10 metre waterfall. The trail begins near the campsite entrance. Various other riverside walks and sections of the Pennine way can be walked from the village, St Cuthbert's Church in Bellingham is a 13th Centuary Church with a unique stone roof and famous long pack tomb. We are a friendly family run caravan park situated in the heart of Slaley Forest. We are proud of the depth of wildlife and the variety of scenic walks in the immediate surrounding countryside. The beautiful views will also enthral you. If you are looking for a tranquil countryside setting, your holiday starts here. We have overnight pitches throughout the season for touring caravans, motor homes and tents. We regularly have special offers on for longer stays. Horse riding is available in Slaley Village approximately 2 Miles away and fishing is available not far away. We are quite close to the Derwent Resevoir, popular for sailing and wind surfing. The historic town of Hexham with its Abbey and weekly market and picturesque Corbridge Village are only 10 minutes drive away. We are also conveniently placed for the world famous Hadrian's Wall a landmark that attracts a large number of our visitors. Elford is a working farm situated in the beautiful Heritage Coast of North Northumberland, about 1.5 miles from the sea as the crow flies. The villages of Seahouses and Bamburgh with their amenities, including some very good eating places, are only a few minutes away. The Caravan Site : A sheltered, two acre grass site for 25 touring vans (all with optional electric hook-ups), with easy access from the road. There are 8 golf courses and 5 castles within a 20 mile radius of the site, and fishing, walking, water sports and riding can be enjoyed nearby. The Farne Islands, reached by boat from Seahouses, are known worldwide for their bird life, marine life, and their association with Grace Darling, the life boat heroine. Lindisfarne or Holy Island, with its ancient Priory, is of particular interest for its place in the history of early Christianity in Britain. The wild cattle of Chillingham - the only surviving herd of wild cattle in Britain are near at hand. The Scottish Borders, Keilder Forest with its huge man-made lake, and the Roman Wall are within easy reach for interesting excursions. Another attraction that is new and bringing visitors to the region in their droves is the Alnwick Castle Gardens, the brainchild of the current Duchess of Northumberland, rebuilding and adding to the old garden which was dug up to be used in the war effort, now beautifully sculpted around the magnificent cascading water fountain, the largest in a European Garden. This has to be seen in person, to be truly appreciated. Campsite on the Northumberland Coast with camping facilities for tents and caravans. With all required facilities, including showers toilets and electric hook-ups. Proctor's Stead is a small, friendly, family run caravan and camping park situated one mile from the sea and surrounded by areas of outstanding natural beauty. The park itself is a level, sheltered, well-kept green, catering for up to approx. 60 caravans and tents. Our facilities include spotlessly clean showers, toilets and washbasins with hot water (facilities are cleaned at least twice daily); power points for shavers and hairdryers; dishwashing area. We also have a coin-operated washing machine and separate tumble dryer. Electric hook-ups available on request. Dogs are allowed but MUST be kept tied up when on site and not permitted to roam. They are to be exercised off-site. Food : Certain dairy produce is available from us at any time of the day. The nearest shop is in Craster (the setting for ITV's 'Distant Shores'), about one mile away. Craster is famous for its kippers and has a wonderful seasonal seafood restaurant, as well as a pub which over looks the sea. For those who do not wish to cook, the Cottage Inn is only a short stroll away and serves excellent bar and restaurant meals. Proctor's Stead is ideally situated as a base for your holiday, whether it is for a week or just a couple of days. To the south is situated Alnmouth and Warkworth, and to the north you can find Newton, Beadnell, Seahouses, Bamburgh, Lindisfarne (Holy Island) and Berwick upon Tweed; inland you can visit Alnwick, Rothbury and Wooler.
