Elford is a working farm situated in the beautiful Heritage Coast of North Northumberland, about 1.5 miles from the sea as the crow flies. The villages of Seahouses and Bamburgh with their amenities, including some very good eating places, are only a few minutes away. The Caravan Site : A sheltered, two acre grass site for 25 touring vans (all with optional electric hook-ups), with easy access from the road. It is spacious and peaceful and very safe for children to play. There are Ladies and Gents toilet blocks with washbasins, hot and cold water, and showers. There is also an information room, with details of local events and places of interest, and laundry room with washing machine and tumble dryer. There is a stand tap in the field for water and a sewage disposal point. Pets are welcome by arrangement. We do also offer B&B accommodation - please see our website for details. Northumberland, famous for its rich history and castles, breathtaking countryside and golden beaches, is the perfect location for a short break or a longer stay. With huge expanses of untouched countryside, national parks and areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty, it will take many, many visits to explore the area, so start now from an ideal base to start your exploration. There are 8 golf courses and 5 castles within a 20 mile radius of the site, and fishing, walking, water sports and riding can be enjoyed nearby. The Farne Islands, reached by boat from Seahouses, are known worldwide for their bird life, marine life, and their association with Grace Darling, the life boat heroine. Lindisfarne or Holy Island, with its ancient Priory, is of particular interest for its place in the history of early Christianity in Britain. The wild cattle of Chillingham - the only surviving herd of wild cattle in Britain are near at hand. The Scottish Borders, Keilder Forest with its huge man-made lake, and the Roman Wall are within easy reach for interesting excursions. Another attraction that is new and bringing visitors to the region in their droves is the Alnwick Castle Gardens, the brainchild of the current Duchess of Northumberland, rebuilding and adding to the old garden which was dug up to be used in the war effort, now beautifully sculpted around the magnificent cascading water fountain, the largest in a European Garden. This has to be seen in person, to be truly appreciated. The Castle itself is a magnificent site, parts of which can be seen in the Harry Potter films, as it was used as a set for Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Rates : Enquire when booking.
