This secluded family site nestles deep in the heart of picturesque Yorkshire midway between the ancient Cathedral City of Ripon and the Victorian Spa town of Harrogate which is noted for its splendid flower gardens and shops. The Park is very attractively situated behind the "Olde World" Yorkshire Hussar country inn in a peaceful garden setting, in the small village of Markington. It is particularly pleasant being in a valley, sheltered and secluded. The park is licensed for 75 caravans, plus some tourers and tents, all set within five acres of land and divided by hedgerows, creating a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere. We have a lovely secure area for children to play in with paddling pool and climbing frame. The Caravan Park is situated behind one of the village Inns. Both of the Inns are owned by the caravan park and both have kept most of their original features including beamed ceilings and stone flagged floors. Both serving traditional Ales with The Cross Keys serving Bar Snacks through the Summer. Don’t Drink & Drive - Relax & stay a while. . We have a Village Shop/Post Office which stocks most items and is open everyday from 8am to 5.30pm and Sunday mornings until 12 noon. Milk, eggs and Juices are delivered around the site everyday except Sunday & Wednesdays. The Village & Village Hall usually has many events taking place throughout the year. There is a local Equestrian centre and Hacking school, also plenty of other sporting activities around and about i.e. Golf, Fishing, Racing and plenty of shopping in the local Market Towns. Markington nestles halfway between Harrogate & Ripon one mile West Off the A61 at Wormald Green. Harrogate is approx 7 miles and Ripon 5 miles, Knaresborough 9 miles, Pateley Bridge 12 miles, York 25 miles. The nearest coast of Redcar 50 miles, Blackpool 78 miles, or Scarborough 67 miles. London/Glasgow is 200 miles, so we are situated in the 'Heart of The Country'. It is a good Base to tour from being close to the Dales, Herriot, and Emmerdale country. Locally Fountains Abbey 2 miles, Brimham Rocks 3 miles, Lightwater Valley 10 miles & Ripley Castle is just 3 miles away and is still lived in by the Ingleby Family who have lived there since records began, as is Markenfield Hall which is just one mile as the crow fly’s and is the oldest Moated Manor House in Yorkshire (with water still in the moat). Now open to the Public for a limited number of days. We hope this has been of interest to you and we assure you that we will do our best to make your stay as enjoyable as possible. We would like you to come back again sometime in the future, as do many of our clients. Rates: Please see website. Groups are allowed by arrangement.

Sleningford Watermill opened as a caravan and camping park in 1973, exactly 200 years since the lovely verse was inscribed over the Millhouse door. Very little has changed on the Park over the years, although the facilities have been upgraded and added to in recent years which has increased our star rating to five. Many people return to us year after year because the Park’s natural beauty and relaxing atmosphere provide a haven for people wanting to ‘get away from it all’. The Park is situated on the A6108, 5 miles north of Ripon and 3 miles south of Masham between the villages of North Stainley and West Tanfield. At the end of a long driveway, the Park sits alongside the banks of the River Ure which is used by many of our visitors for canoeing, fly-fishing and just generally splashing about! The Watermill itself is no longer in use but provides a focal point for the Park which has touring pitches for caravans, motorhomes and tents set amongst 14 acres of mature riverside meadow in three distinct areas (The Riverside, The Millhouse Field and The Island). The careful management of the natural habitat of the Park encourages wild flowers, birds, insects and all manner of creatures to thrive here. We also have seasonal pitches on the Park but, due to their popularity, the waiting list for these pitches is currently closed. Popular with families, couples, canoeists, anglers, walkers and nature lovers, the Park is an ideal base for exploring the Yorkshire Dales and the North Yorkshire Moors. Harrogate, York and Leeds with all the attractions they have to offer are within comfortable driving distances. Ripon has a good selection of shops, banks, restaurants, pubs and places of interest and the smaller market town of Masham also has various attractions (including two breweries!) and a small number of shops around an attractive market place. Lightwater Valley Theme Park is just a mile or so away and the villages of North Stainley and West Tanfield both have pubs which serve food and drink. There is a network of local footpaths around the area and the Ripon Rowel walk (a 50 mile circular walk) passes through the Park. The majority of our facilities are situated around the central courtyard area and are well-maintained and managed: Two fully equipped toilet/shower blocks with facilities for the disabled (free hot water). Laundry room with token-operated washing machine and tumble dryer and two washing-up sinks (free hot water) - an iron and ironing board are available from Reception.
