White Water Caravan Park, Tees Barrage, Stockton-on-Tees, Durham

This pleasantly landscaped site is adjacent to the largest white water canoeing and rafting course built to international standard in Britain. The Centre provides facilities including a sheltered viewing balcony, a drying and changing room, canoe storage area, shop and cafe. Famous for its summer International Riverside Festival, Stockton's museum tells the story of George Stephenson and 'The Birth of the Railways'. Nearby Teesside Park is a shoppers' paradise with restaurants, multi-screen cinema complex and bowling alley. Birdwatchers, wildlife enthusiasts and walkers will be spoiled for choice with over 30 miles of coastline a short drive away - tiny fishing villages, traditional holiday resorts and dramatic cliffs. For a relaxing few hours, try one of the cruises available nearby on one of Britain's most popular rivers - you can board at Castlegate Quay.

The concrete base on the site next door is being broken up with jackhammers. It will be noisey on site between 8am and 6pm Monday to Friday and also 8am to 1pm on Saturdays.
