Gallaber Farm is a working beef & sheep farm located on the out skirts of the picturesque village of Burton ~in~ Lonsdale, set in the beautiful countryside on the borders of North Yorkshire, Lancashire & Cumbria. The farm is home to a pedigree herd of Limousin cattle & also a flock of approx 600 breeding ewes. Gallaber offers a small, well kept caravan park with 15 ptiches for touring caravans and two static caravans. The park is surrounded by beautiful countryside and offers stunning views, including the farms livestock. The heart of the farm is in the herd of pedigree Limousin cattle. We calbe around 60 Limosin females, producing quality young stock. The aim of the herd is to offer top quality cattle to be sold for breeding and showing. We run a flock of around 600 sheep including 300 swaledale ewes which are kept nr Sedbergh approx 20 miles from the farm. We also lamb 250 North of England Mules, which are crossed with the Suffolk to produce an early finished lamb. We also keep a small flock of blue faced Leicester's. The latest addition to the farm is a brand new luxury barn conversion, holiday cottage. Offering truly outstanding panoramic views of the surrounding dales, the cottage offers accommodation for 4 people. The farm is an ideal base for exploring, being midway between the Yorkshire Dales, the Lake District and the Trough of Bowland and only 20 miles from the Lancashire coast. The famous Ingleton waterfalls walk, White Scar Caves and Clapham caves are all on your doorstep, together with the majestic 'Three Peaks' of Ingleborough, Whernside and Pen-y-gent. If you enjoy camping or caravaning then why not come and stay with us? We are a 4 star rated campsite with a full range of facilities for overnight stays including hard standing pitches and lush green fields to camp on and there are toilets and a shower block including disabled access. For the children there is a safe outdoor play area and lots of wildlife and a wood to investigate. If you just want peaceful break then try the many walks around the lakes and go to the beautiful Fox’s Wood taking in the fantastic views of the River Wyre. If you like to be a bit more lively at the weekend, then come into the Fishermans’ Bar and Restaurant for a superb meal, drinks and a sing along! We are situated mid way between historic Lancaster and the family seaside resort of Morecambe. It is a very friendly site, and reasonably quiet. The beauty of the Lake District and the Yorkshire Dales is less than an hour's drive away, and for a really lively day out, Blackpool is about the same distance. Should you decide to stay with us, either for the odd night or two, or perhaps a week or two, we can assure you of a very warm welcome in beautiful surroundings. Every effort will be made to make your stay with us a happy one. After all, we would hope you would want to come again! A very interesting feature of the site, is that it can be cut off by the tide, The road you can see on the above picture is covered occasionally by a very high tide, usually when there is a full moon. For a better idea when this will happen see the appropriate tide table. There is also a very old pub next door which has quite a fascinating history. On a very big tide there can be quite a bore wave when the tide turns. Static Caravans : We have seven caravans that we let out, the others on site being privately owned, and they are well maintained and well equipped. We now have 2 - 12ft wide caravans. There are different layouts ranging from 1 to 3 bedrooms. Each caravan has its own toilet, shower, full size gas cooker, microwave oven, fridge, electric kettle, and remote controlled colour television. All bedding, pots, pans and cutlery etc. are provided, and gas is included in the price. All we ask you to bring are your own towels and tea towels. Touring Pitches: We have 50 touring pitches on an almost level field. It is all grass with a hard road all the way round. Hook-ups are provided to all pitches, should they be required. There is a small play area conveniently situated in the centre, where it is easy to keep an eye on your children. The toilet block is kept to a high standard of cleanliness and the hot showers are free. The pitches are just for touring caravans. Pets are welcome and we have a conveniently situated dog walk area. Moss Wood is a fabulous, family run caravan park with a real village atmosphere set in a well maintained tree-lined boundry in all about 30 Acres. The Park has been established and in the same ownership for over 30 years and has changed and grown gently over time with five long standing members of staff headed up by our Wardens Ian and Sandra. Only 31 Touring Caravans, Motor Homes or Trailer Tents can be accommodated in our level sheltered touring area. Many pitches having individual services and all have hard standings for Caravans and Awnings. Holiday Home caravans are all privately owned with no sub-letting or use as a primary residence allowed. As a result Mosswood has kept its friendly relaxed atmosphere that some parks who turn a blind eye to residential use have lost.
