The campsite at Camusdarach offers superb panoramic views of the islands and is sheltered by many large mature trees. The undulating grassy surface makes tent pitching easy and offers flatter areas for caravans. The 42 pitches are generous in size and allow parking on-pitch. It is advisable to book a pitch in advance. We are a family site and in order to maintain peace and quiet ask all visitors to arrive by 8:00 pm and no noise after 11:00 pm.. Electric hook-ups (21) are available and should definitely be booked in advance. There are 6 hard-standing pitches particularly for vans and 4 new grass hook-up pitches for large tents. Hook-ups are available in both camping areas and serviced pitches are larger than before. Calor Midge-Eaters are installed in both camping areas. Please note that very large tents, 7m by 7m or larger, will be rated as occupying 2 pitches. The site has an immaculate, modern toilet and shower block, which includes a laundry with washing and drying machines, washing-up areas and facilities for the disabled and babies. Effluent from the shower-block is treated by a series of reed-beds which detoxify the outflow water preventing any contamination of the surrounding land. This provides an eco-friendly solution to waste disposal. A separate disposal point is available for chemical toilet waste. The whole estate is geared towards sustainable land use in the hope that we, as custodians of this small area of the Highlands, can pass on to the next generation a healthy environment for every living thing whether human or otherwise. We have 5 caravan Holiday Homes which each sleep 6 persons. Our caravans have hot & cold water showers, fridge, calor gas for cooking and heating, electric lights, colour TV and are fully equipped except for bed linen (pillows and duvets are provided). They are attractively sited on an elevated position at Kinloid Farm and command magnificent views overlooking Arisaig to the sea and the islands of Skye, Rum and Eigg. A 5 minute car journey takes you to the deepest fresh water loch in Europe, Loch Morar. There are boats available for hire so that you can experience its true beauty and also provides the opportunity to land on one of the many islands contained within the loch. At Arisaig and Morar you will also enjoy the safe, sandy beaches with their crystal clear waters that provide their own joys for all the family. Arisaig village is half a mile from Kinloid Farm and provides a hotel, restaurant, cafe, shop and Post Office for all your necessary requirements. The most westerly point of the West Highland Line can be found at Kinloid and this offers excellent photo opportunities for the Steam Train enthusiast. Rates: £340 to £400 per week. A good place for those who like to be solitary: you can look out over clean washed sands to Dunnet Head, the northernmost point of the mainland of Britain. Climb Dunnet Head for magnificent views over the Pentland Firth to Orkney and a great part of the north coast to Ben Loyal and Ben Hope. Take a day trip over to Orkney from John o'Groats or Scrabster, and island-hop the string of islands by boat and coach. If you're a keen birdwatcher, you can take a ferry trip round the Stacks of Duncansby to see an amazing range of seabird life. Anglers are spoilt for choice with sea fishing by boat from Scrabster, fishing from the beach or freshwater fishing nearby. 5 Stars STB. Your van can be parked almost at the water's edge of Loch Linnhe, and your caravan window will be filled with its beauty and the splendour of the mountains across the water. You'll spend a day or two acclimatising to all this natural beauty before you even want to explore. When you do, you could try a visit to Ben Nevis. You can take a cable car to the upper terminal (2,300ft) of the Aonach Mor Mountain, for fabulous views of the whole mountain range, the Great Glen and the islands of Skye and Rhum, and take a guided mountain walk if you wish. On another day, visit Glencoe - you'll find it eery and exciting and everyone should know the story behind the famous Massacre, still legendary after three centuries. Grantown-on-Spey Caravan Park is a family run site, set in an area of outstanding beauty with picturesque views of the Cromdale Hills and the Cairngorm Mountains.
