Hereford is the county town and with it comes plenty of history. This ancient city is set on the banks of the River Wye and there are plenty of attractions including a Norman cathedral. Other towns here include the market towns of Ledbury and Bromyard in the Malvern Hills, Ross-on-Wye, the Golden Valley to the West and Hay-on-Wye to the North.

This four star Caravan Park has been developed over many years and is set in the beautiful Wye Valley at Symonds Yat West. The Park is just one hour’s drive from Birmingham, Bristol and Cardiff, and is ideally situated for touring and the many places of interest nearby or walking the country lanes to enjoy the panoramic views that surround the park. The historic town of Monmouth, with its renowned Nelson Museum, is five miles away, as is the market town of Ross-on-Wye. The resoundingly beautiful Forest of Dean is within fifteen minutes drive of the Park and many happy hours can be spent trailing along the forest paths and cycle routes or picknicking at specially prepared areas. Also within easy reach are Goodrich and Chepstow Castles, Tintern Abbey and the world famous Symonds Yat Rock with its seven counties view and the RSPB supervised viewpoint of the Peregrine Falcons. The Park has its own Reception office, laundrette, public telephone and a large recreation area for ball games etc. Fishing, boating, golf, horse and mountain bike riding is available locally. A warden is resident on the Park throughout the year. All makes of new caravans can be supplied, subject to availability, together with quality previously owned caravans. The annual fees are very competitive. All holiday let caravans are fully services, fully equipped and maintained to a very high standard. Showers, toilets and electric ‘hook-ups’ are installed for camping and touring caravans, which are catered for in a separate area. A traditional country public house, The Wye Knot Inn, is situated on the edge of the Park. A fine selection of ales and wines are stocked and superb bar snacks and meals are available. Townsend is located in the rolling landscape of North West Herefordshire. Construction commenced in May 2000 to create a purpose designed unique Touring and Camping park. Doward Park Campsite is located in the Wye Valley near Symonds Yat – between Ross-on-Wye and Monmouth. The site is surrounded by woodland in a designated "Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty". The river, the forest and Symonds Yat are all within walking distance. A short stroll from the site and you can be in King Arthur's Cave – or sat on top of the Seven Sisters Rocks. There is a cyclepath from Symonds Yat East to Monmouth along the track of the old Wye Valley Railway, this is easily reached from the track which runs past the campsite down to the Biblins suspension bridge. A short drive takes you to Goodrich and Raglan Castles, or Tintern Abbey. The County Town of Hereford is 17 miles, Monmouth 4 miles and Ross 8 miles. We cater for all forms of tent camping from one-man back-packers to trailer tents, electric hook-up pitches also available. We can take motorcampers up to 23ft long (we now have four hardstandings for motorcampers) however we are not able to take touring caravans. We only have 27 pitches in total – so booking is advisable to avoid disappointment. Site Facilities include - Free Hot Showers, toilets, washing up room, hairdryer in ladies showers, free ice pack freezing, chemical toilet disposal point and battery charging. The reception cabin houses a small shop selling a range of basic items plus ice creams, sweets, and hot & cold drinks. Full Calor and Camping Gaz exchange facilities now available. A tumble dryer & washing machine is also available for campers (charge applies). The nearest shop is a Spar (1 1/2 miles). For a wider range of provisions Monmouth is only 4 miles away. Your touring caravan is welcome at Lucksall, and tents can be pitched on smooth mown grass. A separate rally field provides room for larger club gatherings of tents and caravans. Lucksall caravan and camping park really does offer the best access to Herefordshire countryside at its best. Camp in the heart of the Wye Valley and stay at an English Nature Site of Special Scientific Interest. Heart of England Tourist Board Member. BH & HPA Member. Countryside Discovery Member. The park is approximately 17 acres of flat close - mown grassland bordered on one side by the River Wye and closely bordered on the other side by woodland. It is ideally suited to all types of mobile holiday accommodation for guests who prefer a natural inland park giving space, freedom, peace and quiet. Well supervised children are welcome at Lucksall, but due to our rural location we endeavour to preserve the peaceful country atmosphere of the park and therefore do not have a swimming pool, amusements, clubhouse/bar or children's entertainment. Well behaved dogs are also welcome at Lucksall but MUST be kept on a lead at all times whilst on the park, exercised in the area provided and not allowed to foul the park. We have two static caravans for holiday hire, both sited adjacent to our touring site and bordered by an apple orchard. Both are BK Hallmark 2005 models. Pitches : Pitches for your own mobile holiday accommodation are large, flat and closely mown. Many are riverside and many sheltered. 80 pitches have electric hook up (all @ 16 amp). During peak times ( ie. ALL BANK HOLIDAYS, JULY & AUGUST) pitches will be allocated & are available at 2.00 p.m. on the day of arrival & should be vacated by midday on the day of departure (except by prior arrangement). Hook Up pitches booked & not taken by 6.00 p.m. on day of arrival may be re-let unless notification of late arrivals is received. Bookings for Bank Holidays will only be accepted from the Friday ( 3 nights minimum) with a deposit. To avoid disappointment booking early for these times is strongly recommended. Feeling Energetic? Canoeing - If you tire of the beautiful country side and leisurely walks and want something a bit more energetic then why not try our canoe hire service. Single and Canadian canoes are available for hire at very reasonable rates, with drop off and pick up points along the River Wye. Perfect for a lazy day on the river or for a more adventurous trip over a few days. Cycling - We have details of easy, flat cycle rides along the River Wye, and more challenging cross country routes when staying at Lucksall Caravan and Camping Park... Just ask when you arrive... Fishing - Fishing permits are available on site from the park reception, bring your fishing tackle and catch your dinner straight from the River Wye. Walking - Like cycling, theres someting for all ages and abilities, ask for walking route details when you arrive at reception, we'll be happy to help..
