This 7-acre site bordering one of the ornamental lakes offers 80 spacious pitches. Ideally located within a mile of the M4 motorway and only 7 miles from Cardiff, Tredegar House is fairly described as one of the architectural wonders of Wales, and recognised as one of the most significant 17thC houses in the whole of the British Isles. The House is open between Easter and September. The beautiful Park, with its ornamental lakes, 17thC Orangery and garden, woodland, walled gardens and adventure playground opens throughout the year. If you can tear yourself away, try to devote at least one day to exploring Cardiff with its Castle, National Museum, Bay Development and excellent shopping centre. Other notable visits in the area include Newport's restored Transporter Bridge, Pwll Mawr (Big Pit mining museum), Roman Caerleon and the beautiful Wye Valley. If you are looking for quiet, countryside camping, yet only minutes away from town life and a short drive to both Cardiff and Swansea, BRYNHYFRYD CAMPING & CARAVANNING is for you! We are a newly opened, certificated site, linked to the Camping & Caravanning Club - the longest established club of it's kind in the UK. We are delighted to be associated with this club, known as The Friendly Club, a visit to any club site will show why they have earned this name! We are situated in a rural area, yet only minutes away from J36 of the M4, and ideally placed for visiting all the Glamorgan Heritage Coast, as well as the Gower Peninsula. Plenty of shopping opportunities exist in the capital city of Cardiff, to the east, and also in nearby Swansea, to the west. The McArthur Glen designer retail outlet is situated on J36, just 10 minutes from the site. All the scenic splendour of the Brecon Beacons National Park is only an hour away. We have been campers ourselves for many years and love the freedom of the lifestyle. The campsite is a new venture for us, but we have been running a boarding cattery for almost 30 years! We are also very lucky to be situated in an area steeped in history and industry with ancient castles, iron works, potteries and even museums dedicated to the coal mining industry and the world famous St Fagans Museum of the history of Welsh Life all within a short driving distance of the campsite. Pitton Cross Caravan and Camping is a family run touring park on the Gower Peninsula in South Wales, and is approximately 16 miles from Swansea and being the only caravan and camping park near Rhossili and Worms Head. Catering for touring caravans, tents and motor homes All pitches are on level ground, well spaced around the field edges, and sited through out 6 paddocks. We have both 'family only' and 'dog free' areas and several hard standing for motor homes. Acorn Camping & Caravan site has great facilities for your family holiday and is near to the beach and other attractions. The four and a half acre site is the holder of a David Bellamy Silver Award for conservation. Surrounded by farmland, all the pitches are individually marked, some with trees and hedgerows providing extra privacy and shelter. On site we have a modern amenity building with free hot showers, baby-changing room, facilities for wheelchair users, dishwashing and laundry area. A range of camping and Calor gas is available so do not worry if you run out. The owners live on the park to ensure the smooth running of the site and a public telephone is available 24 hours. As a family site we ask for quite between 11pm and 7am and no loud radios, this ensures that everybody can have a peaceful holiday. To amuse your children there is a free trampoline and adventure play area. Whilst your children are occupied why not take a leisurely stroll round our shop which sells groceries, camping accessories and souvenirs. The site is south-facing with an abundance of native trees, wildflowers, wildlife and the River Gwili flowing along part of its boundary. The owners, Keith & Kath live on site and aim to make your stay both enjoyable and peaceful. Since owning the site, we have developed it to a modern 4 star standard whilst still maintaining its rural atmosphere and feeling of tranquility. All the work we have undertaken has been environmentally sensitive and has helped the site achieve the prestigious ‘Wales Business & Sustainability Awards 2006’ and a Gold in the David Bellamy Conservation Award scheme for the second year in succession. River View Touring Park is now becoming a popular site in Carmarthenshire, with a high level of repeat visitors who have variously described it as ‘the retreat’ or ‘the haven’. Our amenities block is timber frame and clad with a high level of insulation. Hot water is provided by Solar panels supplemented by a condensing boiler, which is approved by the Carbon Trust. Under-floor heating is also run from the same hot water system. Water consumption is reduced by the installation of low volume dual flush cisterns for all the toilets. We have an area dedicated to the recycling of glass, tins and paper. Electricity consumption is minimized by the use of low energy bulbs, time-switches and motion sensors to control lighting.
