Ideally located just 2 miles east of Brighton, snuggled into a fold in the South Downs, a short distance inland from the Marina and adjacent to extensive recreation grounds. The Marina offers a lively nautical atmosphere and the town itself is easily reached from here by bus or by the Volks historic railway along the prom. You could of course take the car, but beware of parking problems! Brighton is a lively town with all the usual attractions of a seaside holiday resort: the shopping is good, The Lanes has unusual boutiques and antiques, and the seafront is a classic of its kind with the Pier still operating (do try the fish & chips there!). In short, there is lots on hand for the whole family, whatever your interests, and Sheepcote Valley is the ideal base from which to enjoy it. A gracious site in a former garden with magnificent specimen trees. There is a choice between pitches in open areas or in small groups surrounded with shrubs – the rhododendrons are a riot of colour in the Spring. The site is located close to the 1066 Trail and this is a most delightful area of East Sussex which will appeal not only to walkers and nature lovers, but to discerning families wishing to escape the crowds on the coast; yet the seaside towns of Eastbourne, Hastings and others are just a short drive away. Battle is a small, bustling town with interesting shops and a visit to the Abbey, built to commemorate the Battle of Hastings is a must. Nearby Rye, a Cinque Port, is a picturesque town with castle and cobbled streets and there is a wealth of National Trust and English Heritage properties to visit in the surrounding area. Important Information As pitches vary in size the length of the outfit is essential. During prolonged inclement weather we may have to close some pitches due to water-logging - please contact the site for advice if necessary. Our family owned and run business is located in Westham near Pevensey in East Sussex. A working farm, with the land devoted mainly to grazing, the family look after sheep and cattle, in addition to running the campsite. The Campsite: The campsite, established for over 30 years, is exclusively for touring caravans and tents. We offer a 60 pitch site located in approximately 4 acres of grassland. Made up roadways allow access to all areas of the site. We have a resident warden, and access to the site is controlled with the gates closing at 10.30 pm. Parking is available for late arrivals. Facilities: We have a toilet block offering wash hand basins, toilets and showering facilities. Use of these facilities is inclusive in campsite fees and no additional charge is made for hot water or showers. A laundry room provides 2 deep sinks for dish washing and hand laundry and a washing machine and drying facilities are available at nominal charge for those staying longer. During busy periods, such as during August and Bank Holiday weekends, we are able to accommodate additional campers in our Overspill Field located adjacent to the main site and Lakeside Walk Electrics: For those who appreciate their home comforts, we offer 50 pitches with electric hook-ups, available at extra charge. On Site: Leading away from the camping area we have our campsite walk. Here campers enjoy a pleasant meadow like setting where walkers and pet owners are free to walk. Here you will find our duck pond, peacock house and chicken enclosure. Close by, in the adjacent fields, you may see our ponies and Shetland Ponies. Beyond this, the walk loops around our fishing lake. Many species of fish are present, and examples of Roach, Rudd, Perch, Tench and Carp have all been landed. Use of the lake is free to campsite residents, however users should ensure that appropriate Environment Agency licence is obtained prior to fishing. Cedar Gables campsite is a small family run site, situated on the borders of Kent and Sussex, in the heart of the great British countryside. Located off the A21, London to Hastings road, the site is very easy to find, and located near to many beautiful and fascinating attractions. Tents caravans and motor vans are all accepted subject to availability. The campsite is well away from the road, and bordered on three sides by trees protecting you from the wind. We try to run a quiet site. If you are planning a noisy get-to-gether, this is probably not the place for you. The site is run and managed by Gio Morgan, with help from her husband and son. Facilities include heated showers (operated on a token system), toilets and washbasins, drinking water, electric hook-ups, children's adventure playground with sand pit, and two concrete hard standings for campervans. Adjacent to the campsite is a footpath to Bewl Water. A walk to the water takes around 10 minutes, and then a further 15 to the visitors centre. Both members and non-members are invited to take advantage of the facilities. Just off the A269 and approximately three miles north of Bexhill town centre, the site is approximately 65 miles south of London and 35 miles east of Brighton It is set at the end of a narrow lane with fields on the east, west and south boundaries. There are private houses to the north and the site is well hidden from the road. Regular train services run to Bexhill Station from London Victoria and Brighton. The site is accessible from the A269 by car, minibus and vans up to 7.5 tonnes. Coaches cannot access the site but can stop at the entrance to the track to unload Facilities Designated Picnic and Barbeque areas Training Area/Dining Hall (15m x 10m) Recreation Hall (10m x 20m) Catering Area (8m x 10m) including full cooking utilities, commercial refrigerators and freezers. Surrounded by our own farmland and adjacent to the River Rother, the site is rural yet close to local amenities in both Rye and Hastings. Bodiam Castle is a 15 minute walk along the river bank and is noted for being 'fairytale-like.' There is also a pub by the castle which serves good food. The atmosphere is relaxed and friendly, one of the features everyone seems to enjoy is the fact that campfires are allowed. There are basic toilets and showers with plenty of hot water, a children's play area and some electric hook ups on a hard-standing area. The site fee is £7 per person per night. £3 per child and £3 extra if you would like an electric hook-up. On Bank Holidays we sell and deliver logs for campfires to your pitch.
