We opened the park in the Spring of 2002 and we have landscaped 6 acres into a park that will ultimately take 44 touring pitches and 20 tent pitches. We have planted over 2000 trees / shrubs which will encourage the local wildlife. We are both committed to creating a park that will be environmentally friendly. We have positioned nesting boxes and hedgehog hides amongst other initiatives. As experienced campers ourselves we know that guests will appreciate the peace and privacy we are aiming for. Dogs are welcome but must be under control at all times. Facilities : The Park features a newly constructed shower block with free hot showers, shaver points and a bathroom for disabled visitors. Touring Pitches - Each of our touring pitches features 16 amp hook-up and a choice between hardstanding or grass pitches - subject to availability. For our less able campers, we have a fully contained bathroom, with full facilities for the disabled. Holiday Home - We are also pleased to offer a New Holiday Home for hire on a weekly or part weekly basis - subject to availability. This luxurious home sleeps six people and is fully fitted for that 'home-from-home' experience. Laundry - Our fully fitted Laundry Room has a washing machine, tumble dryer and spin dryer, plus ironing facilities. On site : Dogs are welcome, however, we do ask that you keep them under control at all times. Winston Caravan Park is a small, tree lined, family run site, situated in the centre of Winston Village. The site is grassy, level, protected by trees and hedges and suitable for caravans, tents and motor homes. On site there are electric hook-ups and a toilet and shower block with constant hot water. There is a laundry room with washing machine, tumble dryer, hairdryer and ironing facilities. Calor and Camping Gaz is available. Dogs are allowed but must be kept on a lead and under control. There are eleven static caravans on site plus a separate area for touring caravans and tents. Hard standing is available for heavy motor homes. Some of the statics are available for hire and have two or three bedrooms, kitchen, bathroom with shower and comfortable living area. All statics are equipped with full size cooker, fridge, gas fire, colour television, microwave, toaster, crockery, pans, etc. Bed linen supplied at no extra cost. Please bring your own towels. We are on the Darlington to Barnard Castle bus route. There are swimming pools and leisure centres at both these towns as well as in Bishop Auckland and Richmond, tennis courts in the village and horse riding available nearby. The River Tees is a five minute walk away and is suitable for swimming and canoeing with scenic walks along the riverbanks for a day out and a picnic. The river provides some excellent fishing, details available on site. The village has a post office and a pub which serves good value meals. Gainford village is 2 miles and has its own Spa, several shops including a fish and chip shop and a few good pubs. Tyneside's Metro Centre is only 35 miles away. It is ideal for a family day out with cinema complex, fun fair, children's area, shops and free parking. Rates : From £10 to £14 - please enquire. Static caravans from £210 per week. This pleasantly landscaped site is adjacent to the largest white water canoeing and rafting course built to international standard in Britain. The Centre provides facilities including a sheltered viewing balcony, a drying and changing room, canoe storage area, shop and cafe. Famous for its summer International Riverside Festival, Stockton's museum tells the story of George Stephenson and 'The Birth of the Railways'. Nearby Teesside Park is a shoppers' paradise with restaurants, multi-screen cinema complex and bowling alley. Birdwatchers, wildlife enthusiasts and walkers will be spoiled for choice with over 30 miles of coastline a short drive away - tiny fishing villages, traditional holiday resorts and dramatic cliffs. For a relaxing few hours, try one of the cruises available nearby on one of Britain's most popular rivers - you can board at Castlegate Quay.
