Minffordd Campsite nestles in the Vale of Clwyd with unspoiled views in every direction. The Vale, being sheltered by the Mountains of Eryri from the westerlies, enjoys warmer, drier weather and more sunshine than most of Wales. Ruthin, with its amenities, its arts centre, castle and historic buildings, lies an easy two mile walk south along the riverside; Moel Fammau, highest point of the Offa’s Dyke Path, rises a mile and a half to the northeast. The two gently sloping meadows, less than two acres in all, are served by a quiet country lane.
There are easy local walks, friendly pubs that serve good food, as well as opportunities for mountain biking, horse riding, fishing and golf, and for hiking further afield. The surrounding area is full of interest, with more castles, churches and antiquities, while Ruthin and neighbouring towns host a program of festivals and events throughout the summer. Further afield, the seaside, the World Heritage town and castle of Conway and the mountains of Snowdonia are all less than an hour’s drive away.
We accommodate mainly tented campers, while also welcoming campervans, but are unable to accept caravans. We welcome pets, but dogs must be kept under control, and preferably on a lead while on site. We look after our site, and aim to be friendly and informal, while making every effort to ensure as much as possible of our waste is sorted and recycled, and that the crops and livestock of neighbouring farmers are respected. While we do not allow campfires, we will accept barbecue sets and fires in containers raised well clear of the ground. We provide concrete blocks to protect the turf from instant barbecues.
