Gill Head Farm is a working hill farm offering caravan and camping and bed and breakfast accommodation, situated in Troutbeck, near Keswick and Penrith, and set against the spectacular backdrop of Blencathra and the Northern Fells. We are surrounded by excellent walking country for all abilities from walking along lake shores to long hikes on the fell tops. There are many other activities available in the area such as fishing, pony trekking, activity centres, steamer cruises, golf...the list is endless! Park Foot is a family run park situated beside Lake Ullswater and approximately one mile from Pooley Bridge. Set in magnificent scenery, our site accommodates touring caravans, tents and dormobiles. (Electric hook-up on request). A Holiday at Park Foot combines an idyllic setting with so much to see and do. Enjoy an action packed holiday or do nothing at all, the choice is yours. Take a swim in the lake or launch your boat from the private beach by the Lakeside, walk on the fells, fish on the Lake, or go Pony Trekking, or mountain bike riding - the possibilities are endless. Electric Hook up pitches are available on grass or hard standing to accommodate touring caravans, tents and dormobiles. Car Parking is next to your pitch. There are also drinking water taps placed conveniently around the site. We have three fields for camping within the main park area. One of the fields is situated below the shop and contains the electric hook ups, another is situated below the club and accommodates tents and dormobiles. A stream called "Aikbeck" runs through this field, which is very popular with families. We also have a Camping Field beside the Lake giving a picturesque setting for those long hot summer nights. PLEASE NOTE - Campfires are not allowed, but BBQ's are. Schools and organised groups are taken and must be booked in advanced. We do not take all female or male parties. Gentle and peaceful, this thoughtfully laid out site is divided into separate pitching areas which are punctuated by shrubs and grass. This is an ideal base from which to explore North Lancashire and the Southern Lake District. Brockhole, the National Park Visitor Centre is a good place to start your exploration, for it has together under one roof an enormous collection of information, books and audio/visual material about the Lakes. You'll find the literary associations are everywhere, from Wordsworth at Dove Cottage, Grasmere to Beatrix Potter at Sawrey and the Potter Gallery in the Main Street at Hawkshead. There are water-based sports at Windermere (water ski-ing and scuba diving) and at Coniston (sailing, canoeing and windsurfing) and walking wherever you look.
