Crystal Lakes opened in the summer of 1993 and operates from March 1st to the end of October. The park covers around 12 acres of meadowland and small but beautifully mature fishing lakes. The site is very picturesque and although completely secluded is only a matter of a mile from the A14 between Cambridge and Huntingdon. The village of Fenstanton is 10 minutes walking distance and the historic market town of St Ives is 25 minutes. For the less energetic, however, a cycle track right outside the park will take you to both. Fenstanton and St Ives can also be access by public footpath across the meadows. Fenstanton is well server with a butcher, two general stores, baker and newsagent, fresh garden produce and free range eggs, two hairdressers, and an excellent fish and chip shop – not to mention four village pubs, all of which serve excellent meals. The village of Fenstanton is halfway between Cambridge and Huntingdon on the A14. Fishing : Lake “A” is approx. 2 acres in size with a good selection of coarse fish example (last years weights) : Carp (36.5lb), Tench (7 lb), Rudd (2 lb), Bream (10 lb), Roach (2 lb), Pike (14 lb), Crucian Carp (4 lb), Mirror Carp (32 lb). Mixed catches of 60 lb plus are possible on Lake “B”, while on Lake “A” Carp from 15 to 25 lb are of ten caught with recorded biggest 31 lb Common and 31 lb Mirrow up-to-date. From 2006 there will be an indoor and outdoor childrens activity centre. Huge car boot sale held every Sunday onsite. Rates : Pitches From £6.50 per night to £13.50 per night.

The price of £6 per adult and £4.50 per child per night is charged for prebooked groups of ten or more, this can include a camp fire site by arrangement. Set in old quarry workings and within a site of special scientific interest, this site has been imaginatively landcaped to create the impression of being in the heart of the countryside while only a ten-minute bus journey (½ mile from site) to the city centre. Guided walking tours are an excellent way of soaking up the academic atmosphere of the medieval colleges and open-top bus tours will take you all around the city and out to the American War Cemetery. Alternatively you can take a punt along The Backs on the River Cam to see colleges like Corpus Christi, Magdelene and the Bridge of Sighs. A visit to King's College Chapel is a must.
